The experience

What you'll do

Snowshoes attach to your boots and let you move more easily and quickly over snow or ice. They are used above all for hiking, mountaineering and alpinism in winter.

This four-hour private outing, for you and your group, offers beautiful snowy landscapes, woodland and frozen rivers in an untouched natural setting where peace and silence reign. It is a chance to reach places very few people get to, with the company and safety of our qualified professional local guides (High and Middle Mountain Sports Technicians).

The route takes us from just outside the Astún ski resort up to the Ibón de Escalar — ibón is what we call the glacial mountain lakes of the Aragonese Pyrenees. A gentle climb through the Barranco de Escalar, ideal for getting used to snowshoes, brings us to this spectacular mountain lake, often frozen over in winter.

Snow conditions sometimes force us to change the route; in every case we look for genuinely beautiful itineraries with panoramic views of the surroundings. Through the day we make several stops to rest, celebrate and take in the landscape.

The activity suits active families and regular walkers (children aged 8 and over). No previous experience is needed and the level of effort is low to medium.
